Getting more housing built and making it more affordable is a top priority for the City. From finding ways to make it easier to build, to reducing City fees and offering funding for affordable rentals, we are saying yes to housing in Mississauga.

By 2051, about one million people will call Mississauga home. As we grow, we also want to make it easier to track development progress. Try these online tools to learn more about development in Mississauga.

  • Development applications website: Get details about active development in the city. Find applications – updated in real time – using our online map. See renderings of what the proposed development looks like, find out about upcoming public meetings and review detailed application submission documents.
  • Building permits map: Explore building permit applications citywide. From the map, you can see the types of building permits applied for and issued, including the status of those applications.
  • City planning data hub: Mississauga was one of the first municipalities in Canada to launch an online hub to give everyone access to the data we use to plan our city. From development trends, including a monthly housing update, to employment data, the data hub includes current and historical planning data that can help you better understand the city.
  • Guide to City Planning and Development: Planning is complicated and can be difficult to understand. The guide helps simplify topics such as how land gets developed and how the City plans for growth.

For those who want to dig deeper, the City’s Open Data website offers free, public information anyone can use for research, analysis, reporting and mobile app development.

Whether you’re building a new home, studying urban planning, thinking about investing in Mississauga or just curious about your city, these tools offer real-time insights and accessible planning information for everyone.
