Overview

In 2022, the City of Mississauga, together with the Region of Peel, the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon, bought the former Orangeville-Brampton Railway corridor. They intend to create a public trail through the corridor. We’re converting our portion into a multi-use recreational trail.

The new trail section will be 1.15 kilometres long. It will reach from Atwood Lane to the Brampton border, across the Credit River. The section will connect to future trails in the neighbouring municipalities through a multi-year initiative.

Public engagement

In 2024 and 2025, public meetings were held for the City’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment applications to allow the public trail on the rail line corridor.

The public trail is also identified in the Cycling Master Plan and the in-progress 2025 update. The 2025 update included public engagement such as open houses and information sessions.

Project updates will be added to this page when they’re available.
