Growing food, whether in a backyard, on a balcony, or in a community garden, brings people together and helps make our city greener and more resilient to the impacts of climate change. The City of Mississauga supports urban agriculture by helping residents access fresh local food and creating more opportunities to learn and share with one another.

To celebrate urban agriculture and the end of the growing season, we invite residents to join us at the Small Arms Inspection Building for an evening of learning, connection and local food. The event includes:

  • A presentation by artist Diane Borsato about her public artwork, ORCHARD, which celebrates Mississauga’s apple history. Diane will share the story of the orchard and offer a tasting of different apple varieties to celebrate the fall harvest.
  • A hands-on demonstration in partnership with the Mississauga Seed Library, where you can learn how to save seeds for future gardens.
  • An opportunity to speak with City staff about local gardening programs, resources and ways to get involved.

Urban Agriculture Strategy

These activities help support healthy communities, strengthen the local economy and make the city more resilient during extreme weather events and flooding.
