12:00 p.m. Update: Hickory Drive Explosion

According to Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services, the priorities of the incident continue to be:

  1. investigation;
  2. recovery – returning the site back to normal for residents; and
  3. providing community support and information.

The investigation continues through the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management in conjunction with Peel Regional Police (PRP).

As of approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, the perimeter was further reduced to allow residents access to their homes.

The evacuation zone continues to be Hickory to the North and West, Rathburn to the South and Dixie to the East. The number of addresses that are currently impacted has been reduced from approximately 700 to 69.

Community Information Meeting

What

A meeting is scheduled for impacted residents which will focus on utilities, shelter and community support information.

Who

Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillor Chris Fonseca and Fire Chief Tim Beckett will be onsite to share information and answer questions from residents.
