The City of Mississauga is hiring election workers for the 2024 By-election being held on Monday, June 10, 2024. Make a difference in your community by applying to work in one of the paid positions at a voting location in Mississauga.
“Being involved in the upcoming by-election is an excellent opportunity to connect with your local community,” said Diana Rusnov, City Clerk and Director, Legislative Services. “When applying, you have the option to either apply alone or form a team with friends and family. This allows all group members to work at the same voting location. We make every effort to meet these requests whenever possible.”
To be an election worker, you must:
During by-election day, you are required to start work at 8:30 a.m. Your day will end no earlier than 9 p.m. or when your Location Manager dismisses you – whichever is later. You will also be required to participate in training and there may be additional duties for some roles such as the transportation of supplies and equipment beyond the specified working hours. You can find more details about specific duties in the job descriptions.
As an election worker, you are required to do up to three-hours of in-person or virtual instruction-led training, depending on the position. Certain positions may also require that you complete an additional online training module. See the job descriptions for specifics.
If you’re interested in working the upcoming by-election, you must apply online. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2024.
