There’s nothing better than sitting in your comfy lawn chair listening to live music or kicking up your heels to the sounds of local musicians. This summer, there are endless opportunities to listen to live music all across the city.
The Summer Concert Series occurs all summer long on Friday evenings in Streetsville Village Square from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday evenings at Port Credit’s Memorial Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. These free performances will feature a variety of live music including jazz, latin, celtic rock, indie rock and country. Bring your lawn chair and dancing shoes and prepare to enjoy a musical night under the stars.
You can also head to our city’s downtown to listen to free live music at Mississauga Celebration Square. The fun kicks off with our July 1 Canada Day celebrations featuring a line-up of music including Marianas Trench. The entertainment continues all summer with a variety of multicultural festivals. Visit our event line-up for more information.
In August, an open mic night will take place every Wednesday evening at the Amphitheatre on the upper east side of Celebration Square. If you’re an entertainer, be sure to submit your online audition for Amphitheatre Unplugged, or simply come out to watch local talent on Wednesdays from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
As you scout around the city this summer, check out SaugaBusks. This grassroots program features local buskers playing throughout the city until October 31, weather permitting. Follow @SaugaCulture on Twitter or MississaugaCulture on Facebook for news and updates on busker activity.
The summer entertainment doesn’t stop here! Every Friday evening from June through August, you can enjoy live music at Benares Historic House with the annual On the Verandah, presented by Friends of the Museums of Mississauga. This event is a fundraiser and a $10 donation per person is appreciated.
Don’t let the summer of 2019 fly by without being entertained by Mississauga’s musicians. For more information, check out our full event line-up.
