Every Ride Counts:  Mississauga’s Annual Bike to Work Day

The City of Mississauga, Smart Commute Mississauga and Metrolinx invite residents to give their cars a break and cycle to work for the 8th annual Bike to Work Day on May 26. Group rides from various parts of the city will be followed by a free breakfast at Mississauga Celebration Square.

“Bike to Work Day is an excellent example of positive community building,” said Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca and Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee member. “I encourage everyone to join us and register for a Bike to Work Day ride. It’s just one of the many ways the community can get involved in living green.”

“Our goal is for people to integrate cycling into their daily life,” said Jacquelyn Hayward Gulati, manager of the Active Transportation Office. “Bike to Work Day, a part of Bike Month, is a wonderful opportunity for people to realize the benefits of cycling and is just the beginning of creating a more liveable Mississauga.”

What:
Bike to Work Day group rides and free breakfast.
Cyclists can enjoy bike safety check-ups, fun prizes, cycling vendors and a BMX demonstration at the breakfast event.

Main Group Ride with Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca

The group ride meets at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Tomken Road and Burnhamthorpe Road and will depart at 7:30 a.m. for Celebration Square.

Breakfast Event

The group rides will arrive at Mississauga Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Drive at approximately 8 a.m.

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m.

The group rides and breakfast will take place rain or shine.

Bike to Work Day is recognized by Smart Commute organizations across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, in partnership with Metrolinx and area municipalities. Bike to Work Day is part of Bike Month. Bike Month is a community celebration of cycling that is happening across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
