Spring is around the corner. With it comes the return of Mississauga Library’s ninth annual Seed Library program. Residents are invited to participate in online and in-person workshops and events from March onward throughout the gardening season. The workshops are free with registration and suitable for all ages.
In addition to being a rewarding experience for individuals and families to discover the joy of gardening, the program also aims to support local food systems, build seed-saving literacy and promote locally adapted plants. Seed gardens can be planted indoors or outdoors, given suitable weather.
The City is hosting events in Mississauga to celebrate the ninth year of the Mississauga Seed Library with workshops, gardening experts and family-friendly activities.
The events are either virtual or in-person at various locations. To register, visit mississaugalibrary.ca/seeds.
The workshops will take place from Saturday, March 11 to Monday, May 8, 2023.

Additional Program Details:
The library is currently accepting seed donations to the Seed Library. The Seed Library provides the public free access to open-pollinated and non-GMO seeds, including tomato, bean and even marigold seeds, among others.
Thanks to seed donations from the community, more than 2,100 seed packages were distributed to residents across the city in 2022. When the growing season is over, harvest your seeds and return a portion of them to the library to help keep the seed library self-sustaining.
Seed orders for spring 2023 will begin on March 11 at 1 p.m. at mississaugalibrary.ca/seeds.
