Canadian Forces Veterans Ride Free to Warriors’ Day Parade

Entertainment and activities | August 5, 2014

Canadian Forces veterans and a friend may ride free with MiWay on Saturday, August 16, 2014 to the Warriors’ Day Parade.

The Warriors’ Day Parade is a tradition that began in 1921 and occurs annually at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in Toronto. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m.

“This is our way of paying tribute to the veterans of Canada by offering them a free ride on August 16,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director, Transit. MiWay joins Canada in recognizing the 2014 commemoration of The Great War (1914-1918) 100th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

To ride MiWay for free veterans must identify themselves to a transit operator by wearing their uniform or showing a medal or another item that distinguishes them as a veteran.

Customers can find customized route and schedule information by using MiWay’s online trip planner Click n’ Ride or by calling 905-615-INFO (4636) for customer information. To view scheduled departure times on the go, visit m.miway.ca or download the MiWay app for the iPhone.
