Canadian Forces Veterans Ride MiWay Free on Remembrance Day

City services | November 4, 2014

MiWay continues to offer a free ride for Canadian Forces veterans and their companion on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11.

“MiWay honours the efforts and sacrifices of Canadian men and women who have put their lives on the line in an effort to further freedom and security throughout the world,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director, Transit. “Veterans riding MiWay are asked to identify their companion to transit operators, so they too may ride free.”

Marinoff added that veterans are asked to wear their uniforms, medals or other items that identify them as veterans to transit operators.
All transit operators will stop their buses for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11 to recognize Canadian veterans for all they have done during war, conflict or peace missions around the world.

Let MiWay take you to the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Mississauga Civic Centre at the Community Memorial located at the northwest corner of Mississauga Celebration Square. The ceremony is on November 11 at 10:45 a.m.
