MiWay Bus Stops will Shift to Rathburn Road
On April 11, construction will begin at the City Centre Transit Terminal for maintenance work. This will reroute bus stops from the terminal’s platforms in the bus loop to Rathburn Road potentially causing traffic delays in the area.
“MiWay buses will stop at bus bays along Rathburn Road. There will be no lane closures, however there may be increased bus traffic,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director, Transit. “MiWay apologizes for any inconvenience to customers or drivers. Your patience is appreciated during this time as the City completes this much-needed maintenance to the terminal.”
The City Centre Transit Terminal was built in 1996. Maintenance work is required on the structural deck at the south end of the bus terminal due to concrete corrosion. This construction will begin April 11 and is expected to be completed by September 2016.
During construction, the north and south doors of the City Centre Transit Terminal building will remain open to MiWay customers for ticket sales, customer information, washrooms, and travel to the upper platform. The east and west doors will be closed.
MiWay bus routes that make stops at the City Centre Transit Terminal will be rerouted and stop locations will change during construction. Visit miway.ca/ccttt for up-to-date routes information.
“If possible, drivers may want to consider Centre View Drive as an alternative route to Rathburn Road,” said Marinoff.
Marinoff added that several measures are in place to ensure a smooth and safe transition for riders and drivers and to assist with traffic flow.
- Peel Regional Police officers will be on site for the first two weeks of construction
- Increased monitoring of traffic cameras on Rathburn Road
- Traffic signal adjustments will be made
