City of Mississauga announces Director of Finance and Deputy Treasurer

Faraz Agha will be responsible for leading corporate business planning, the budget process, the City’s Long-Range Financial Plan, and city-wide financial services like accounts payable, investment management, accounting and financial reporting, and revenue and taxation.

Following a competitive recruitment process, the City of Mississauga has appointed Faraz Agha as the Director of Finance and Deputy Treasurer effective October 1, 2025.

In this role, Agha reports to the Commissioner of Corporate Services, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, and will oversee all business functions of the Finance Division. He will be responsible for leading corporate business planning, the budget process, the City’s Long-Range Financial Plan, and City-wide financial services like accounts payable, investment management, accounting and financial reporting, and revenue and taxation.

Agha has more than 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors and has been with the City of Mississauga since 2015 managing the Business Services and Process Solutions team, and the Budget Planning and Reporting team. In this role, he has provided strategic financial guidance across all City service areas and led organization-wide process improvement initiatives. Prior to that, Agha served as a Manager in the Controllership unit at the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Agha started his career in progressive financial roles in organizations such as CIBC, Grey Worldwide and TE Industries.

Agha holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) designation and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Finance.
