Colin Patterson has been appointed to lead traffic management and municipal parking operations, driving innovation and safety across Mississauga's road network.

Following a competitive recruitment process, the City of Mississauga is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Patterson as the Director of Traffic Management and Municipal Parking, effective December 15, 2025.
In this role, Patterson reports to the Commissioner of Transportation and Works, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team who manage various capital projects as well as operational and maintenance activities required to maintain a safe and efficient road network for all road users. The division consists of four sections, Traffic Signals and Systems, Traffic Services and Road Safety, Street Lighting and Projects, and Municipal Parking.
Serving as the Acting Director since August 2024, Patterson has had nearly two decades of progressive leadership experience with the City of Mississauga. Prior to being the Acting Director, he was the Manager of Traffic Services and Road Safety, playing a pivotal role in the development of the City’s Road Safety Program and Vision Zero Strategy. Patterson has championed new technologies and innovation while maintaining the balance of moving to leading-edge technologies and providing stable, secure and intelligent traffic management systems.
Patterson is a Certified Road Safety Professional and Certified Engineering Technologist with an advanced diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from Humber College.
