City to make changes to Committees of Council

Local government | December 17, 2014

Today, Mississauga City Council approved recommendations to change the Committee of Council structure by dissolving the Transportation Committee and direct staff to further review adding a Transportation Advisory Committee with citizen members.

“Transit and transportation are among the biggest issues facing our city and it is critically important that we receive as much feedback and input as possible to ensure we get it right,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “I look forward to working with City staff and Council to create a committee that will allow residents and stakeholders to have their say about the future of transit and transportation in our City.”

The City’s committee meeting calendar will change from the current three week cycle, to a two week cycle, for General Committee and Council meetings as of the January 14, 2015 General Committee meeting.
