Fall Means the Start of a New Theatre Season in Mississauga

Entertainment and activities | October 11, 2016

From a new take on old fairy tales to traditional holiday features to Meadowvale Theatre’s first ever sensory performance, the 2016/2017 season will entice new theatre goers as well as excite long-time theatre lovers.

“Our new season offers a selection of creative, thoughtful, fun and relatable experiences,” said Roselyn Brown, Manager, Performing Arts, City of Mississauga. “Our programming celebrates communities and collaborations while creating an accessible space for cultural expression.”

New to the performance schedule this year is Click Clack Moo. This is the Theatre’s first sensory musical and is based on the award-winning book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. The performance focuses on negotiation and compromise, while providing a sensory-friendly environment for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Holiday performances at Meadowvale Theatre will warm up the cooler temperatures this season. The Nutcracker – A Canadian tradition by Canada’s Ballet Jörgen personalizes this classic story for a Canadian crowd. Audiences are taken on Klara’s familiar, magical dream-journey as she arrives in Canada and experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks and Mounties.

Sharon Matthews has performed in big blockbuster films including Mean GirlsCinderella Man and Hairspray. This December, Sharon’s Christmas Party takes the stage for one night only in a hit musical comedy cabaret. In this performance, Matthews creates holiday-themed pop medleys and unique sing alongs.
