Fire on Ice: Cheer on Mississauga firefighters in a hockey game to support Big Brothers, Big Sisters

Do you enjoy watching hockey?

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Peel Regional Police are going head to head in a hockey game on Saturday, February 17. Ticket proceeds will support Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Peel York. It’s the perfect opportunity to watch a great hockey game while supporting a great cause!

Your ticket will permit entry into both the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services vs. Peel Regional Police game as well as the Mississauga Steelheads vs. Kingston Frontenacs game.

When

Saturday, February 17, 2024
1 to 4 p.m.

Schedule includes:

  • National anthem and puck drop at 1 p.m.
  • Safety Q&A at half-time
  • Explore trucks at 3 p.m. outside in the parking lot
  • Mississauga Steelheads vs. Kingston Frontenacs game begins at 4 p.m.

More exciting activities

Apart from the hockey game, there are other exciting activities in store for you, such as:

  • First responder’s trucks on site – a very popular activity with kids. Explore a fire truck, police car and an ambulance.
  • Safety Q&A – brave audience members will have a chance at answering five emergency related trivia questions. For every question they answer correctly, they can attempt a shot at the goal! If the lucky person answers five correctly, they will win a gift bag with goodies!
  • Information booths – don’t forget to stop by the information booths and learn about safety and speak to staff on-site about a variety of topics, including fire safety and prevention!
  • Raffle – stay longer to also enjoy the Mississauga Steelheads OHL game at 4 p.m. The winning raffle ticket holder will win a hockey jersey signed by the Mississauga Steelheads team.
  • Fun giveaways – foam fingers, rally towels, water bottles, stuffed toys and personal alarms. Keep an eye out for these exciting items being given away at various points throughout the game.

Supporting a local charity

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Peel York is a non-profit organization that provides mentorship programs to children and youth in Peel and York region facing adversity. They aim to help young people realize their full potential and become confident, competent, and caring individuals.
