FORE! Get Into the Swing of Things This Golf Season in Mississauga

Entertainment and activities | April 14, 2022

Are you an avid golfer who’s ready to get back on the greens? Are you considering trying golf for the first time? Now is a great time to dust off your clubs for another golf season.

The City of Mississauga boasts two unique golf courses and provides lessons for a range of ages and abilities to help you have an “un-fore-gettable” season. Whether you play alone or in a group, golf is a great outdoor sport that provides exercise, mobility and activity. Last year there were more than 84,000 rounds of golf played at City-owned golf courses.

The City owns and operates two golf courses – both of which are family-friendly, affordable and accessible by MiWay. BraeBen Golf Course and Lakeview Golf Course are the perfect places to practise your putting, visit the driving range or hit the greens. Each course is good for all skill levels whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. Amenities at both locations vary although both courses offer cart rentals, pull carts and licensed snack bars.

BraeBen Golf Course

BraeBen offers an 18-hole Championship course and 9 hole par 3 course. Located at one of the highest points in the city, it also offers a driving range with 360-degree panoramic views of Mississauga. Braeben is also the official golf course for the 2022 Ontario Summer Games starting July 21 and running until July 24.

BraeBen has:

  • an 18-hole Championship course – now open.
  • a 9-hole Academy course that will open on Thursday, April 21, 2022. For the younger players looking to gain some experience – all junior golfers (17 and under) can play for free when accompanied by a paying adult until May 31, 2022.
  • irrigation upgrades happening, so the driving range will be open on a limited basis beginning Saturday, April 16, 2022. Contact the pro-shop to confirm availability.

BraeBen also offers golf lessons and clinics for all ages and skill levels to help you improve your game. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills or pass on the love of golf to your kids, register online for the instruction that suits your needs.

Braeben’s hole #7 is the signature hole on the course. A downhill par-3 with a pond and bunkers guarding the front of the green. A great tee shot is required to hit the green, especially with the wind blowing as it typically does at Braeben.

Tee times can be booked over the phone and online.

Lakeview Golf Course

In 2021, Lakeview Golf Course celebrated 125 years of providing some of the finest public golf in Ontario. Due to the restoration work that continues along the Applewood Creek corridor, weather permitting – Lakeview’s 9-hole golf course will open on June 20 with the 18-hole course opening on July 15. As part of the Applewood Creek construction project, the original upper hole #17 will be restored to its original 1921 Herbert Strong design. It will include enlarged greens and bunkers, as well as the removal of the alternate lower hole and irrigation pond. This is an exciting restoration for the golf course and will make the hole play as it did during Lakeview’s two Canadian Opens in 1923 and 1934.

Staying Green on the Greens!

Before heading to your tee time, remember to bring your reusable water bottle and take advantage of the water refilling stations on-site. The City’s golf courses no longer sell plastic water bottles to reduce plastic pollution.
