Fun for the whole family: Mayor’s New Year’s Levee features free DJ skate party in Mississauga this weekend

Celebrate the start of 2026 with Mayor Carolyn Parrish and Members of Council with an afternoon of free family fun at Celebration Square.

Get ready for an afternoon of free, fun, family activities at Mississauga Celebration Square (MCS). The festivities kick off indoors at 1 p.m. with an official ceremony and meet and greet led by Mayor Carolyn Parrish and Members of Council, followed by an afternoon of outdoor skating, music and treats.

Mayor’s New Year’s Levee 2026

Sunday, January 11, 2026

  • 1 p.m. – Ceremony begins
  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – Meet and Greet with dignitaries, special guests and photos with Mayor Parrish; information booths from various City service areas including 311, Animal Services, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and more.
  • 1 to 4 p.m. – DJ skate party featuring Raptors 905’s DJ Andre, including free skate rentals.

  • DJ skate party – MCS outdoor skating rink

Important note: event attendees are welcome to make their way through the Levee meet and greet area. One professional photograph will be taken with each guest. All professional pictures will be available for free download shortly after the event.

Please note that selfies will not be permitted. Meet and greet activities will end promptly at 2:30 p.m. Once guests make their way through the meet and greet, they will receive a coupon for a free hot chocolate and cookie, as well as a free skate rental, valid on January 11, 2026 only.

Free underground parking is available onsite at City Hall.

Background

The Mayor’s Levee is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century, during the reign of King Louis XIV. To show the monarch belonged to the people, the King would invite gentlemen to his bedroom on New Year’s Day to watch him wake up and begin serving the public. The Royal Governor of New France later brought this custom to Canada where it continues to be a New Year’s tradition.Image of a snowman with a scarf
