Halloween Theme Adds Spine Chilling Fun to Annual Community Tree Planting Event

On October 29, residents are invited to put on their frightening Halloween costumes and participate in the annual One Million Trees: Trick or Trees tree planting event. This family-friendly event features tree plantings, spooktacular activities, Lofty the magician and fun for all ages. Volunteers are asked to wear a weather-appropriate Halloween costume (outdoor clothing) and proper footwear. The City’s Forestry team will provide gloves, shovels, tools, water and sweet Halloween treats. Don’t forget to bring your broom stick!

Community tree plantings help the City enhance the tree canopy throughout Mississauga neighbourhoods. These types of initiatives enhance and preserve the city’s tree canopy while empowering local residents to care for trees. The City works with various community groups and organizations such as SHORA and the CVC to co-ordinate community tree planting events like the annual One Million Trees: Trick or Trees.

One Million Trees Mississauga

One Million Trees was launched to help enhance the City’s open spaces and conserve forested areas for future generations to enjoy. Trees are planted by City staff, partners and volunteers on public and private property. The One Million Trees goal is to add one million trees to Mississauga by 2032.The City is committed to growing and regularly maintaining all City-owned trees on streets, in parks and woodlots.
