Community engagement is important to us. We want to hear your ideas and opinions on the projects that are transforming the city. There are many ways to get involved and work together to plan and shape Mississauga’s future.

Upcoming Opportunities

South Common Community Centre and Library Renovation

The City of Mississauga is redeveloping South Common Community Centre and Library to meet the community’s needs and improving infrastructure to address population growth and changing demographics in the area. The project will aim to serve the community by improving the quality of recreational services and implementing higher accessibility and green building standards.

  1. Register for the virtual session on Tuesday, April 25 from 6 – 7 p.m.
  2. Drop in for our public open house information session at South Common Community Centre on Friday, April 28 from 2– 5 p.m.

saugaLIVE Feedback Survey

Launched in 2021, saugaLIVE aims to bring you the latest news about live events and experiences happening across our premier culture venues in Mississauga. We would like to get your feedback to better understand how we can improve live event experiences in Mississauga, including the way we deliver this information to you.

  1. Complete the online survey by May 12, 2023.

Aquitaine Avenue Road Safety Project

The Aquitaine Avenue Road Safety Project is focused on changing the current four lane roadway to three lanes as a traffic-calming measure to reduce speeding.

It will also help increase the comfort, accessibility and safety for all road users, including cyclists and pedestrians.  Narrowing the road will help keep traffic at a slower speed and as part of this pilot, on-road protected bike lanes, dedicated vehicle parking lanes and dedicated centre/left turn lanes will be added to various sections.

At the online information session, you will have an opportunity to meet the project team, review the project background and planned design and learn more about the next steps.

  1. Register for the information session on Tuesday, May 16, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
  2. If you are unable to attend the information session, you can share your feedback online.

Official Plan Review: Housing and Land Use Policies

The City is moving forward with the next phase of community engagement for the Official Plan Review and we need your input! Mississauga’s Official Plan is an important part of our city-building efforts. It guides how the City will grow and develop.

To date, staff have shared two sets of updated Official Plan draft policies with the community and are preparing the third and final set of policies for feedback. This set includes housing and land use policies that enable more housing types in neighbourhoods, promote housing affordability and rental protection, outline where the city will grow and more.

Help plan our future city:

  1. Register for our virtual community meeting on May 16 from 6-8 p.m. Our team will provide an overview of the Official Plan, walk you through the Housing and Land Use policies and answer your questions. If you are unable to attend the meeting, a recording of the staff presentation will be posted online following the meeting.
  2. Review the draft Housing and Land Use policies on our Official Plan Review site starting May 2, 2023. Read the policies, see what’s changed and add your thoughts using our commenting tool.

The Transit and Road Infrastructure Plan

The plan will guide actions, policies and transportation investment in Mississauga over the next 20 years; ensuring we have the right infrastructure in place. With an integrated transit and road network, the City can encourage all modes of travel like taking transit, cycling, walking and driving.

Your input on the final draft of the Transit and Road Infrastructure Plan is important and valuable.

  1. Join our public open house from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at City Hall in the Great Hall to learn more. All are welcome, registration is not required.
  2. The plan will posted following the meeting on May 23. You can share your feedback online from May 23 to June 12, 2023.

Cooksville Park and Iggy Kaneff Park Engagement

The City is asking local-area residents for feedback on what amenities and park improvements they’d like to see at Cooksville Park and Iggy Kaneff Park (formerly Camilla Park). These two parks within the trail system along Cooksville Creek are receiving park improvements to enhance visitor experiences and provide outdoor recreation and fitness opportunities to support active lifestyles.

  1. An online survey will be posted on Thursday, May 25. Please complete the survey by Friday, June 30, 2023.
