How Much is Too Much Noise? Have Your Say on How Noise is Regulated in Mississauga

City services | December 18, 2019

The City of Mississauga is updating its Noise By-laws to make them more responsive to community needs. As the City evolves from a suburban community to an urban centre, there is an opportunity to modernize how noise is regulated.

City staff are currently reviewing the Nuisance Type Noise By-law and the Noise Control By-law and will consult with residents and stakeholders on a range of proposed options. The potential changes will cover aspects such as the complaint response process, residential and construction noise exemptions, permitted periods for amplified sound and noise thresholds.

Residents are encouraged to have their say by attending an upcoming public meeting, or providing feedback online by taking a survey, asking a question or sharing their ideas.
