Important Information for Voters in the Upcoming Municipal Election

Municipal Election | September 24, 2018

With the 2018 Municipal Election only one month away, the City of Mississauga would like to remind residents of some important information as they prepare to vote on Monday, October 22.

Vote Anywhere

New to the 2018 Municipal Election – eligible voters can vote at any voting location in their ward on Election Day and at any voting location across the city during the Advance Polls.

Advance Polls

Eligible voters can vote early during the Advance Polls:

Friday, October 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Mississauga Civic Centre
Saturday, October 6, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Mississauga Civic Centre
Saturday, October 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., 22 locations across the city
Sunday, October 14, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., 22 locations across the city

Voting by Proxy

Voters who cannot vote on Election Day or during the Advance Polls can still vote.

Voting by Proxy allows a voter to have another eligible voter cast their vote on their behalf. They simply need to fill out the Appointment of Voting Proxy Form and have the appointed voter submit it in person to the Office of the City Clerk (2nd Floor, Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive), during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Updating Your Information or Adding Yourself to the Voters’ List

Eligible voters who are not on the voters’ list, or eligible voters who need to update their voters’ list information, can do so by completing a Voters’ List Revision Form.

The form must be completed and submitted in person with acceptable identification to the Office of the City Clerk during regular business hours.

Eligible voters can also update their information by bringing identification to any voting location in the City of Mississauga during the Advance Polls or any voting location in their ward on Election Day.

Voter Notification Letter

All eligible voters who are on the voters’ list will receive a Voter Notification Letter in the mail in the coming days. This letter will arrive in a Mississauga-branded, standard-sized envelope.

The Voter Notification Letter lists the various voting locations that eligible voters can vote at during the Advance Polls and on Election Day. Voters should bring this letter along with I.D. when they vote.
