Industrial Fire on Thamesgate Drive

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire at a storage facility this morning in the Thamesgate and Airport Road area – 2797 Thamesgate Drive. Four firefighters were injured when the facility walls collapsed; one firefighter is in critical condition; he is being transferred to a trauma hospital in Toronto. Road closures are in effect in the Airport and Derry Road areas.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters and their families. We are grateful for all emergency services personnel who are on site,” says Mayor Hazel McCallion.

“We are on the scene, the fire is under control. The cause of the fire has not been determined. We ask all those in the area to close their windows as a precaution. Our thoughts are with the firefighters who were injured,” commented John McDougall, Chief, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.
