City building | February 14, 2014

Residents are invited to an information session to take a look at the updated plans for the redevelopment of the Meadowvale Community Centre.

When:
Wednesday, February 26, 2014
7 to 9 p.m.

Where:
Youth/Seniors Room
Meadowvale Community Centre
6655 Glen Erin Drive

Who:
Ward 9 Councillor Pat Saito and City staff will provide facility users with an update on the building’s redevelopment plans and share information on programs and services during the building closure

What:
The redevelopment of Meadowvale Community Centre is a priority for the City. The demolition and rebuilding of the centre will improve public accessibility, update mechanical systems, enlarge program space and add a therapeutic pool. Redevelopment is also an opportunity to include the Meadowvale Library into this expanding community hub.

Meadowvale Community Centre will be closed as of July 1, 2014 and re-open in summer 2016 when construction is complete. Where possible programs and services will be temporarily relocated to other City facilities during the construction period. Program changes and construction highlights will be posted on facility webpages at www.mississauga.ca/recreation when construction begins later this year.

Why:
Through its Strategic Plan and the Community Services “Future Directions” plan for recreation, the City of Mississauga is committed to evaluating its programs and services as well as building and maintaining facilities and infrastructure to meet the changing needs of our community.
