Media Update – Industrial Fire on Thamesgate Drive

2:45 p.m. – Update on the condition of the four (4) Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services firefighters injured this morning in Malton:

• one fighter is expected to be released end of day
• the other three firefighters sustained injuries in the explosion and are undergoing medical treatment for their injuries

Road closures are in effect in the Airport and Derry Road areas.

Press conference at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Media are invited to attend a press conference this afternoon at the intersection of Airport Rd. and Thamesgate Drive.  Mayor Hazel McCallion and Chief John McDougall will be on site to address the media.

Background:
Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire at a storage facility this morning in the Thamesgate and Airport Road area – 2797 Thamesgate Drive.
