To support local businesses and allows fans to watch events together, the City of Mississauga has received approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to permit Mississauga bars and restaurants licensed for liquor sales to begin the sale and service of liquor at 6 a.m. for the duration of the 2026 Winter Games (until Sunday, February 22, 2026). The 2 a.m. closing service time remains unchanged.

A notice of motion made at the February 11 Council meeting directed staff to request the Registrar of the AGCO to permit the extended hours to coincide with early morning broadcasts of the Winter Games, support local businesses and allow fans to watch events together. The motion was approved by Council on February 11, and the request was sent to AGCO, who approved the request on February 13.

This temporary extension will be in effect until February 22, 2026. Regular licensing hours will resume on February 23, 2026.

Residents are advised to check with their local establishment regarding their participation. The City reminds residents and businesses to celebrate safely and responsibly while enjoying the Olympic Games.
