MiWay fares will change on January 1

MiWay cash and PRESTO fares will increase for adults, seniors and youth.

City services | December 15, 2025

Starting January 1, the MiWay cash fare will be $4.50 for all age groups, excluding children who ride free. The increase to the cash fare aims to encourage riders to transition to PRESTO.

PRESTO is the easiest way to pay your fare in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and Ottawa area, including on MiWay, the TTC and GO Transit. This change also helps harmonize all cash fares paid on MiWay.

PRESTO also provides transit riders with free transfers when connecting to and from MiWay and the TTC, GO Transit, Brampton Transit, York Region Transit (YRT) and Durham Region Transit via Ontario’s One Fare Program. This program delivers significant benefits for MiWay customers who want to transfer between MiWay and the TTC at any location where the two services connect.

Seniors ages 65 and older can ride MiWay for free with a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type. Seniors can set the fare type on their card by visiting a customer service outlet and showing proof of age. PRESTO cards that are not set to a specific fare type will be charged the $3.50 Adult PRESTO single fare.

New fares include:

  • Adult cash fare: $4.50
  • Senior cash fare: $4.50
  • Youth cash fare: $4.50
  • Adult PRESTO single fare: $3.50
  • Youth PRESTO single fare: $2.90
  • Adult PRESTO monthly pass: $145
  • Adult Affordable Transit Program PRESTO monthly pass: $72.50
