MiWay service changes starting December 22

Are you planning on taking transit over the holiday season to do some shopping or visit loved ones? Transit is a wonderful way to get to your destination, without having to worry about driving in snowy weather or searching for a parking spot at a busy mall. During the holiday season, from December 22 until January 4, MiWay will be adjusting its levels of service based on anticipated customer demand.

Holiday service

During the holidays, all 300-series high school routes will be out of operation, as schools will be closed. MiWay service will be operating as follows:

• Monday, December 22 to 24 will have reduced weekday service.
• Thursday, December 25 will have regular Sunday service.
• Friday, December 26 to 27 will have regular Saturday service.
• Sunday, December 28 will have regular Sunday service.
• Monday, December 29 to 31 will have reduced weekday service.
• Thursday, January 1 will have regular Sunday service.
• Friday, January 2 will have reduced weekday service.
• Saturday, January 3 will have regular Saturday service.
• Sunday, January 4 will have regular Sunday service.

On days with reduced weekday service:

• 18 Derry will operate less frequently.
• 101A Dundas Express will not service the University of Toronto Mississauga.
• 110A University Express, 126 Burnhamthorpe Express and 135 Eglinton Express will not operate.

On days with regular Sunday service:

• 61 Mavis will have some trips removed.
• 66 McLaughlin will have some trips removed.

Regular MiWay service will resume on Monday, January 5.

Ride free on New Year’s Eve

Whether visiting friends or joining the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Celebration Square, there are many reasons to ride public transit for the year-end holidays. MiWay will offer free service on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. on December 31 to 4 a.m. on January 1.

The following routes will have extended late-night service until 4 a.m. on January 1:

• 1 Dundas
• 2 Hurontario
• 3 Bloor
• 5 Dixie
• 7 Airport
• 10 Bristol
• 11 Westwood
• 13 Glen Erin
• 17 Hurontario
• 23 Lakeshore
• 26 Burnhamthorpe
• 61 Mavis
• 66 McLaughlin
