MiWay Student Ambassadors Promote Transit

City services | June 8, 2016

At Council today, Menatalla Ibrahim from Father Michael Goetz Secondary School was named 2015/16 MiWay Student Ambassador of the year. During the school year, Menatalla engaged and educated her peers about the benefits of using MiWay.

“MiWay’s student ambassadors showcase excellent leadership and communications skills,” said Mary-Lou Johnston, MiWay Manager Business Development.“They work as our extended team. They share positive MiWay experiences with other students. They gather feedback and help us improve awareness for transit in Mississauga.”

Menatalla gave students the opportunity to access transit information in their own school and encouraged them to try transit. She spread positive messages about MiWay using social media, interactive activities, school bulletin boards and MiWay booths. She offered helpful tips and information on MiWay and transit services.

As the winner, Menatalla will receive free transit for one year and an iPad mini. Her school will receive 50 free $5 PRESTO cards.

Council also recognized Sam Yu and Adrian Aliu of Glenforest Secondary School as the winners of the newly introduced Bus Wrap Design Contest. Their unique design and tagline ‘Take Transit, Save the Planet’ highlights the environmental benefits of taking transit.

The newly wrapped bus is already in service. Watch for it in your neighbourhood.
