MiWay Suspends Some Routes in Response to Staff Shortages Due to COVID-19 Related Absences

City services | January 6, 2022

MiWay is temporarily suspending some service in response to an increasing number of staff that are currently absent due to COVID-19.

Starting Friday, January 7, MiWay will be suspending service on Routes 101/101A Dundas Express and 107 Malton Express, as well as reducing service frequency on Route 103 Hurontario Express in response to Transit Operator staff shortages due to COVID-19 and self-isolation requirements. These reductions will be in effect until further notice.

“We know that many residents rely on public transit to get to work, appointments and other essential trips,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director of Transit. “In order to deliver more reliable service where it is needed most, these changes have been temporarily implemented to free up resources for re-allocation. We will continue to update our customers in a timely manner as changes occur.”

While it is difficult to predict how customers will change their travel patterns due to the latest COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, MiWay remains committed to monitoring all routes in the transit network so that available resources are allocated in the most effective way possible.

Customers are encouraged to check for real-time schedule information and updates by using MiWay’s trip planner at miway.ca.
