More space and fun to explore at expanded McCracken Community Park

Ward 10 residents are invited to join Ward 10 Councillor Sue McFadden at an event to celebrate the expanded McCracken Community Park. The .51 hectare (1.26 acre) park addition now offers more features and area for everyone to enjoy this popular green space and public place.

When:
Friday, September 5, 2014
Free barbecue, cake, ice cream and soft drinks – 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Official ribbon cutting – 6 p.m.

McCracken Community Park
5510 Velda Road
West of Winston Churchill Boulevard and south of Thomas Street

What:
McCracken Community Park is a popular park where the public has enjoyed play areas, a seasonal ice rink and seating areas.  The park addition adds more space and features which include:
• a multi-use pad and half basketball court
• hop-scotch line painting and drop shot basketball
• two cool misters
• an informal free play area
• additional benches and
• a new walkway to connect the existing play area to Stoney Cresent and Ozzie Drive

“The larger green space and additional amenities will accommodate the new residents just moving into the area,” said Ward 10 Councillor Sue McFadden. “I’m so proud of this beautiful park and I’m sure it will be a wonderful gathering place for the community.”
