Official List of Candidates for the 2018 Municipal Election is Now Final

A total of 154 candidates are nominated and running in the upcoming 2018 municipal election.

The official list of candidates running in the City of Mississauga’s 2018 Municipal Election is now final. A total of 154 candidates are nominated and running in the upcoming election for Mayor, Ward Councillors and School Board Trustees.

Voters can view the full list of official candidates by visiting MississaugaVotes.ca.

Elected by Acclamation

Ontario’s Municipal Elections Act, 1996, states that, if, at 4 p.m. on the Monday following nomination day, the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as or less than the number to be elected, the clerk shall immediately declare the candidate or candidates elected by acclamation.

The following candidates have been declared elected by acclamation:

School Board Trustees, English Separate

Mario Pascucci, Ward 1,3

Bruno Iannicca, Ward 7

About the 2018 Municipal Election

The 2018 Municipal Election is on Monday, October 22. Voting locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To accommodate voters who cannot vote on October 22, Advance Polls will be open on October 5 and 6 at Mississauga’s City Hall and on October 13 and 14 at locations throughout the city (exact locations to be announced shortly).

New this year to Mississauga’s 2018 Municipal Election is ‘Vote Anywhere’ which allows voters to vote at any voting location during the Advance Polls and at any voting location in their ward on Election Day.
