Pump up Your Tires for 24 Community Bike Rides from Spring Until Fall

In less than two weeks, pedals will start spinning in the first of a full slate of Community Rides spanning three seasons – spring, summer and fall. This year there are 24 bike rides, four more than last year.  The first ride will begin on Saturday, May 14. Rides will continue regularly until the final Halloween ride in the last week of October.

Details of Community Rides

What:

Community Rides are free, guided leisure bike rides throughout the city that have grown from an average of 65 participants in 2014 to 130 in 2015. Cyclists will experience 12-30 km rides through parks, on trails, see new city destinations and learn cycling safety tips along the way.

Who:

All rides are led by experienced riders and members of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee (MCAC).

When:

The first Community Ride of 2016 is on Saturday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m. Visit mississaugacycling.ca for a full schedule of rides.

Where:

Garnetwood Park (1950 Burnhamthorpe Road East).

Details:

The May 14 roundtrip route will take riders on an 18 kilometre journey.

All levels of riders are welcome to participate in Community Rides. Ride marshals will divide the group into three riding levels to ensure riders are comfortable with the pace of the ride. There is a mandatory helmet policy adopted by the MCAC stating that all riders must wear helmets. All rides are followed by free refreshments provided courtesy of Toronto Pearson Airport.
