Community Rides Begin May 13 and Continue Through October

Check your gears, brakes and tires to ensure your bicycle is ready for a full slate of Community Rides spanning three seasons in locations all across Mississauga. This year the first Community Ride will begin on Saturday, May 13. Check out the 2017 Community Rides schedule and pen them into your calendar.

Details of Community Rides

What:

Community Rides are free, guided bike rides ranging from 12 to 30 kilometres on City of Mississauga trails, through parks and on roads with bicycle lanes, roads with shared-use lanes and on roads designated for bicycle use. Riders will gain safe riding tips and the confidence to ride on their own. Rides have grown from almost 300 riders in 2013 to more than 3,000 riders in 2016.

Who:

Riders of all abilities from beginner to experienced or come as a family. Rides are led by experienced volunteer riders including members of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee (MCAC).

When:

The season’s first Community Ride is on Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. Visit mississaugacycling.ca for a full schedule of rides.

Details:

The May 13 roundtrip route will take riders on a 20 kilometre journey.

Ride marshals divide the group into two or three riding levels to ensure riders are comfortable with the pace of the ride. There is a mandatory helmet policy adopted by the MCAC stating that all riders must wear helmets. The kick off ride and refreshments after all Community Rides are sponsored by Toronto Pearson.
