Stay Close and Don’t Host – Large Gatherings are not Permitted this Long Weekend

COVID-19 | May 19, 2021

While case counts start to stabilize in Peel Region, we remind residents to continue to follow all public health measures this May long weekend. To help keep our community safe bylaw officers from both Mississauga and Brampton will team up with Peel Regional Police officers to help remind residents that large gatherings are not permitted under the current Stay-at-Home Order.

Peel Regional Police, the City of Mississauga and the City of Brampton are teaming up to respond to complaints for large gatherings on private and public property. We can assure you that both city bylaw officers and Peel Regional Police officers will NOT be completing any random spot checks in parks or playgrounds, on trails or stopping of vehicles.

Both city bylaw officers and police officers will respond to complaints that come in through various channels, like 311. The priority of both types of officers is always to educate and inform residents before seeking compliance.

Heading into this long weekend, Peel residents are encouraged to use virtual options for celebrations with loved ones. We also remind residents that bylaw officers and police officers are here to keep our community safe. If you come across them in our community, please keep a safe distance, wear a mask if approaching and offer kindness to our essential service workers.
