The City of Mississauga is looking for a lead agency to manage a proposed new space dubbed the Malton Community Hub. The plan is to convert a decommissioned pool at Lincoln Alexander Secondary School in Malton into useable space to meet community needs.

“The community of Malton needs more spaces to provide critical services to our residents,”

said Ward 5 Councillor Carolyn Parrish. “This City-owned property can be repurposed to better meet the community’s needs.”

When completed, the Malton Community Hub will provide services and programs that reflect local community needs. The space is located at 3545 Morningstar Dr. and has 12,000 square feet with capacity to expand further. Some of the potential amenities the hub could provide include meeting rooms, offices, and program spaces.

“We are now in the process of selecting a lead agency to manage and operate the hub,”

said Shari Lichterman, Director, Recreation. “We have issued an Expression of Interest Request and are asking community agencies to respond by July 10 at 4 p.m. The selected agency will work with our City of Mississauga team as well as project partners to help shape the hub’s vision, business plan and service delivery model. They would also select sub-agencies to operate out of the hub.”

Agencies can learn more by visiting activenow.ca/maltonhub. The design of the hub is expected to begin in 2020 followed by the construction and opening of the facility in 2021.

This project is supported by the Peel District School Board and the Region of Peel.
