Winter Magic is in the Air! Mississauga will Light Up the Square this Weekend

Entertainment and activities | November 22, 2022

It’s the countdown we’ve all been waiting for. This holiday season, Mississauga Celebration Square will come alive with winter magic as it transforms into a magical display of lights. This annual, memorable event will take place this Saturday, and will include the official lighting of the Christmas tree and opening of the City’s largest outdoor skating rink.

During the event, guests are encouraged to a walk through Passage, a massive immersive tunnel of light and sound that responds to movement. Songs can be requested by The Jukebells ft. uRequest Live, Celebration Square’s very own LIVE Jukebox band. There will also be live entertainment by Big Smoke Brass.

A Light Up the Square event wouldn’t be complete without pictures with Santa, which will be available for free onsite. Come hungry because several food trucks will be ready to offer delicious treats.

In addition to the winter fun, there are more glowing public art installations throughout the Square to put you in the holiday frame-of-mind:

  • Diaphanous Charms by Asli Alin
  • Echoes by Nate Nettleton
  • Sugar Mountain by Weppler and Mahovsky
  • Guest’s Shadow by Weppler and Mahovsky
  • Passage created by Serge Maheu, produced by Montréal en Lumière, Toured by Creos
