Park improvements

Construction is planned to start in spring 2020 on the expansion of Pheasant Run Park. It’s expected to be done and open for public use in fall 2020.

Park improvements will include the following features and amenities:

  • Increased seating
  • New tree plantings
  • Fitness loop with bench fitness stations
  • Multi-use sport court
  • Spray pad
  • Shade structure
  • Connections to existing trail network
  • Soccer field
  • Natural ice rink
  • Park lighting
  • Improvements to the existing parking lot (32 parking spaces)

Engineers will evaluate the City’s 390 km of hard surface park and off road trails between August and October 2020. They will assess their condition and prioritize replacement.

The assessment will include a trail inspection, pavement analysis, condition assessment and photos.

The engineers will not collect any personal information while taking photos of the trails and will make every reasonable effort to avoid doing so. However, if collection of personal information occurs, then such information will not be used and will be disposed.

Construction is planned to start June 8, 2020. It’s expected to last until September 25, 2020, when the redeveloped space will be open for public use.

Park improvements include:

  • Four lit tennis courts with pickleball lines
  • Two lit bocce ball courts
  • One full-size FIBA (International Basketball Federation) regulation basketball court
  • Three existing refurbished basketball courts
  • Two 3v3 court FIBA court markings
  • Two seating areas with umbrellas
  • New perimeter fencing with decorative wrap
  • Bleacher seating

Construction is planned to start in fall 2020 on a new public double tennis court at Thorncrest Park. Construction is expected to last six to eight weeks.

Park improvements include:

  • New public double tennis court
  • Lines for pickleball play
  • Path to Thorncrest Drive
  • Path connections to playground and All Saints Catholic School
  • Benches
