Community Services Mandate

Our mandate is to provide programs, services and opportunities that deliver on our citizen’s leisure and recreational needs; support their educational and informational pursuits; enrich their lives with unique cultural experiences and resources; and allow them to enjoy Mississauga’s diverse green spaces. We are also responsible for emergency planning initiatives that support city-wide preparedness and protecting, educating and responding to our citizen’s fire and emergency needs.

Transportation and Works Mandate

Our mandate is to ensure that the department continues to focus on four main areas; Urban Mobility, Asset Management, Service Delivery, and People and Culture. This will ensure that we progress the City’s vision for a multi-modal transportation system that enhances our existing transit service operations and provides convenient choices for our citizens and those travelling through our city. We ensure the City’s roadways, bridges, sidewalks and related assets are well planned, constructed and maintained. We are also responsible for an effective storm water management system that safeguards public and private infrastructure and property; and enhances water quality. We provide information, support and guidance to internal business partners, citizens and land owners regarding development applications and seasonal programs; we enforce compliance with municipal by-laws and maintain order, safety and community standards in our community.

Planning and Building Mandate

Our mandate is to provide information, advice and support to Council, internal business partners, citizens, developers, consultants and land owners regarding the land development approval process – from the planning of raw land through the processing of development applications and building permit issuance to final building inspections. We are also responsible for providing data and advice on matters affecting the planning and development of the City.
