Final report
Overview
We are creating a network, called a hydrogen hub, of partners and local businesses working together to find opportunities to accelerate the use of hydrogen in Mississauga.
The City’s exploration of clean fuels is a crucial step towards reducing our need for fossil fuels, which significantly contribute to climate change. Using clean energy like hydrogen will reduce our carbon footprint and help us make a lasting change.
Why use hydrogen in Mississauga
Hydrogen can be made from different sources like water and natural gas, making it a versatile part of a low-carbon energy future. It offers a clean and sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels, such as those used to fuel large vehicles and industrial processes.
What we’re doing
MiWay is launching a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Bus project and will be receiving 10 hydrogen fuel cell electric buses in 2026. The buses will be fueled by green hydrogen as the City moves towards more sustainable public transit. Green hydrogen is generated from water using renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro, or wind power.
