Study overview
The City has started two concurrent Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) studies for Square One Drive and City Centre Drive.
The Class EA studies build on the City’s Downtown Movement Plan (2024), which recommended the extension of the following:
- Square One Drive from Hurontario Street to Rathburn Road and Shipp Drive
- City Centre Drive from east of Kariya Gate to Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road

The Class EA studies will review the need for the road extensions and consider a range of alternatives to support future growth and development as well as multi-modal connectivity and access in the study areas.
The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act to plan for a variety of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, water, and wastewater. The MCEA outlines a comprehensive planning process to identify and assess technical and environmental effects and concerns before infrastructure projects begin. Planning in this way helps ensure that potential impacts from all municipal projects are addressed and mitigated before implementation.
Projects are classified as exempt, eligible for screening, Schedule B, and Schedule C depending on their anticipated environmental impact. The MCEAs for Square One Drive and City Centre Drive are being carried out in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2024).
Public engagement
Three rounds of engagement are planned for these studies to share information and gather feedback from the community.
Round 1: Study commencement and public information centre #1
The City of Mississauga is planning the first public information centre to introduce the Class EA studies and gather input on the needs, opportunities, existing conditions, and alternative solutions for the study areas.
Public information centre #1 will be held on:
March 26, 2026
6:00pm to 8:00pm (drop-in)
Living Arts Centre, Mississauga Room
4141 Living Arts Drive, Mississauga
Information displayed at the public information centre will be made available on this page after the event. If you require this information in an alternate format, contact the City’s project lead.
Share your feedback about the Class EA studies by April 9, 2026, either in person at the public information centre or by email to the project lead at Sonya.Bubas@mississauga.ca.
Round 2: Public information centre #2
The second public information centre will gather feedback about the recommended solutions and preliminary project designs.
Round 3: Project file
Separate project file reports will document the study findings and decision-making process. These will be available for a 30-day public review at the end of the studies. The final reports will be made available on the project documents page when they’re ready to view.
