Apply for an automobile service station licence

You need a licence to run an automobile service station in Mississauga.

An automobile service station is a building or part of a building that services vehicles and is open to the public. The types of services include washing, repairing, maintaining, fueling, leasing, selling or displaying a vehicle. The station may be a gas bar, car wash, body shop or general or specialty repair shop.

There are five classes of service stations and one business may have multiple classifications:

  • Class B is a location that repairs and stores vehicles and also stores and sells gasoline or oils
  • Class C is a location for buying and selling new or used motor vehicles
  • Class D is a location for parking or storing motor vehicles
  • Class E is a car wash

Your licence expires annually, one year from the date it’s issued. A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file. If no email is available, it’ll be mailed to you.
