Mississauga Presented with the Friends of the Credit Conservation Award

The City of Mississauga's Transportation and Works Department was presented with the Friends of the Credit Conservation Award from the Credit Valley Conservation Authority (CVC).

The City received the award for municipal leadership in integrating low impact development practices which represents a significant change in our infrastructure approach. In place of a complete road reconstruction from a ditched cross-section to curb and gutter with storm sewers, the ditches in the Lakeview neighbourhood and on Elm Drive will be maintained in support of natural drainage. The project involved replacing the road surface, adding modified road curbs and upgrading the ditches to enhance drainage and water conveyance. Some of the ditches will be naturalized with low maintenance plants for water quality and aesthetic purposes.

For more than 20 years, CVC has presented awards to: individuals; landowners; community groups; small businesses; corporations; municipalities; and agencies that have made a significant contribution to managing natural resources in the Credit Valley Watershed.  Through these awards, CVC's Board of Directors celebrate important work done across the watershed to help ensure its long-term environmental health.
