Design Guidelines for Industrial Buildings
Mississauga's major streets carry high volumes of traffic. The impression created by the design of these streets will have a profound effect on the overall image of Mississauga. The Design Guidelines for Industrial Areas establish the desired image and provide a set of guidelines for development along these important streets within industrial areas.

Streetscape: Hurontario Street Matheson Blvd. to Hwy 401
Hurontario Street between Highway 401 and Matheson Boulevard is a major gateway to Mississauga. The immediate impression on entering should be that of a well-designed City, where orderly development and an attractive built-environment are taken for granted. The gateway should create a sense of entry and prepare the incoming motorist for arrival at the City Centre. It should also leave the departing motorist with an image of a sophisticated, urbane City.

Streetscape: City Centre Area
These guidelines supplement the City Centre Secondary Plan, which has the general goal of developing a high intensity, mixed-used city centre with a distinct identity, serving as the cultural and civic focus for Mississauga and as the major commercial centre for the region.

Streetscape: McLaughlin Road, Eglinton Avenue West to Britannia Road West
McLaughlin Road is one of the more scenic roadways in Mississauga, primarily due to the mature deciduous trees which fringe and envelop the central section of this thoroughfare. In addition to being designated as a major collector, McLaughlin Road is also designated as a scenic route. Until recently McLaughlin Road was a relatively narrow, undulating passage, bounded by ditches, with a distinctly rural character. It is the intent of the scenic route designation to ensure that any maintenance or physical modification of the roadway reinforce or enhance its scenic qualities. The guidelines contained within the McLaughlin Road Streetscape Study are intended to assist in maintaining the scenic qualities of McLaughlin Road. They are directed towards maintaining a consistency of streetscape and to reducing haphazard and conflicting visual elements.

Design Guidelines for Automobile Service Stations, Car Washes, and Accessory Uses
The Design Guidelines for Automobile Service Stations, Car Washes, and Accessory Uses were developed to address issues which have resulted from recent changes in the petroleum industry. These include a shift toward additional convenience related uses in kiosks (including take-out windows for food service), changes in car wash technology, and the predominance of accessory uses associated with the sale of petroleum products.
