If you’re planning an activity or event that’s going to create a lot of noise during a certain timeframe, you can apply for an exemption to the Noise Control By-law in advance.

You’ll need to apply for an exemption if you are a construction company and wish to operate construction equipment outside of regular hours from Monday to Saturday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Construction noise is prohibited all day Sundays and on statutory holidays.
Submit a completed Noise Exemption Application and $294.42 fee (includes HST) by mail, email or in person. The fee is payable by cheque, debit, Visa, Mastercard, e-transfer, and American Express.
We must receive your application a minimum of six weeks before your exemption date.

To submit your application in person, schedule an appointment to visit the Licensing, Permits & Regulatory Services office on the ground floor through the west entrance at 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West.
In addition to the steps above, if your application is approved you will be required to distribute a final notification to residence within 1 week of commencement of work. This notification will be provided to you by staff.
Additional terms and conditions may be applied including a decibel limit to a maximum of 85 dB(A) or 105 dB(C) measured form the lot line of the property where the event is occurring.
