Overview
The 2012 Cooksville Creek Flood Evaluation Master Plan Environmental Assessment identified Huron Heights Park as a key location to mitigate flood risks within the Cooksville Creek watershed. The underground stormwater management facility will collect and store approximately 5,000 cubic metres of stormwater runoff from large storms, reducing flooding and improving water quality in the Cooksville Creek watershed.
It will be built under the north ball diamond. Work should begin in early 2026 and end in late summer 2026.

Benefits
This project will reduce the risk of flooding and improve water quality in the downstream Cooksville Creek watershed. It will also provide a new north ball diamond.
Key project tasks
During the project we will temporarily:
- Remove the north ball diamond, cricket/soccer field and some trees
- Restrict access to part of the park trail
These temporary changes will allow us to:
- Install the stormwater facility under the north ball diamond
- Stockpile material and equipment on the cricket/soccer field
- Install storm sewer intakes and outlets near the bend on Huron Heights Drive
When we finish the installation, we will:
- Backfill and re-grade the park
- Replace the north ball diamond
- Add new trees and shrubs
