Yesterday at General Committee, the winners of the 2024-2025 MiWay Student Ambassador Program were announced. Each year, the City hosts a competition where students apply (as individuals or as a team of two) to become Student Ambassadors. The program provides high school students in Mississauga with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication and teamwork skills while earning volunteer hours.

MiWay Student Ambassador Program winners

  • First Place: Rais and Tanvir, Erindale Secondary School (Ward 8)
  • Second Place: Harish and Kishan, Glenforest Secondary School (Ward 3)
  • Third Place: Mina and Yashica, St. Francis Xavier Secondary School (Ward 5)

As a Student Ambassador, individuals help inform fellow students about the benefits of public transit, attend online and in-person meetings with their peers and create social media content about MiWay. They also gain knowledge about MiWay routes, learn how to access transit information and provide valuable feedback directly to MiWay. The program is an inclusive approach to educating students about the advantages of taking public transit. It highlights the benefits of using MiWay as a sustainable transportation option while helping them build valuable skills.

This initiative reflects MiWay’s commitment to engaging with Mississauga youth and encouraging a new generation of public transit users.
