Mississauga’s youth are showing others how and why to use public transit in their daily lives. At today’s General Committee meeting, the City announced the winners of the 2025-2026 MiWay Student Ambassador Program. Each year, students from Mississauga high schools sign up to represent their schools. Student Ambassadors teach their peers how to use PRESTO, plan trips and ride MiWay safely. This helps students feel more confident exploring the city with their friends and classmates. It also builds independence and life skills they can use for college or university, a co-op, or for work.
MiWay Student Ambassador Program winners are:
Congratulations to the winners and all the ambassadors who volunteered their time to help their school community understand the benefits of transit. This year, 40 students from 27 Mississauga high schools took part in the program and earned more than 700 volunteer hours.
Ambassadors do different activities during the year to earn points and volunteer hours:
This program shows MiWay’s commitment to helping young people try public transit. Another youth initiative is the Sauga Summer Pass. This pass offers free rides on MiWay from June 26 to September 7, 2026, for youth ages 12 to 16. It is an easy way to take transit with friends to fun summer activities.
