To support public health and safety, Mississauga outdoor pools are closed and some outdoor recreation programs have been moved indoors until further notice.

Due to wildfires in other parts of Ontario, Mississauga continues to experience poor air quality and a Very High (10+) Air Quality Health Index (AQHI).

Based on this rating, residents are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities. If you must be outdoors, it is advised to minimize smoke exposure as much as possible, and prioritize keeping cool. Children, older adults, and individuals experiencing symptoms such as coughing or throat irritation should take extra precautions and limit outdoor physical exertion.

Reducing your exposure to smoke is the best way to protect your health. As air quality worsens, the likelihood of health effects increases, so residents should limit time outdoors and adjust daily activities where possible.

Closures and cancellations

Due to the poor air quality, the City has implemented program adjustments and closures.

  • All City of Mississauga outdoor pools are closed.
  • Let’s Play in the Park programs are cancelled.
  • Some outdoor recreation programs such as camps will be moved indoors where possible.

These closures and cancellations are necessary to support public health and safety and will be reassessed as air quality conditions change. The City will continue to monitor weather reports and alerts from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

Where possible, make-up classes for cancelled activities will be rescheduled to a later date, or a refund will be issued if a class is not rescheduled. Outdoor permit holders can contact the Customer Service Centre at 905-615-4100 or by email at facility.rentals@mississauga.ca regarding any questions they may have.

The City will continue to share updated information as it becomes available on the Recreation and Arts & Culture websites and social media accounts.
