The City is teaming up with residents, community organizations, and local partners to refresh the Burnhamthorpe Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP).
Milestones
  1. 1
Original Burnhamthorpe SNAP development: 2012 to 2015

Community members shared input through public engagement. Their input helped shape the plan and set priorities.

  2. 2
    Program implementation: 2015 to 2025

Projects and programs in the neighbouhood focused on stormwater management, home sustainability, local food growing and community connections.

  3. 3
    SNAP renewal: 2026 to 2027

The Burnhamthorpe SNAP is being updated to reflect current neighbourhood needs. Engagement is underway, with more events planned for fall and winter of 2026.

Overview

The Burnhamthorpe SNAP area is a large, diverse community in east Mississauga. It’s home to more than 21,000 residents and features a mix of single-family homes and multi-unit residential buildings. Within the area are schools, parks, places of worship, commercial areas and updated community spaces.

In partnership with the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and Peel Region, the City worked with residents, businesses and community stakeholders to develop the Burnhamthorpe SNAP.

Community Involvement

Feedback from residents and community groups will shape the actions of the updated plan. Residents, businesses and community organizations are encouraged to share ideas, provide input and join local initiatives that support sustainability and climate resilience.
